A Day of Awesomeness (don't read until tomorrow if you don't want to know what happens tonight)

So, I knew last night that today (Tuesday in Beijing) Shawn Johnson would compete on balance beam, and I really wanted her to win the gold medal.

And she did.

I knew a few days ago that Jonathon Horton was going to compete on high bar, and I really wanted him to medal.

And he won silver.

I caught the beginning of the semi-final soccer game between Brazil and Argentina, and I really wanted Argentina to win and go on to play in the finals.

And they beat Brazil 3-0.

It's been a special, special day.

p.s. I usually don't look at the Olympic news (or news period for that matter, who needs the stuff) before I watch the actual events. I like to be surprised. But after the women's all-around competition, I was so emotionally exhausted I felt it would be wise to just know how it all went down beforehand. And while I was reading about how Shawn Johnson (FINALLY) won gold, I happened to read about the rest of these things.

But as a general rule, I try to stay ignorant to that night's broadcast. Not that it matters to anyone but me, but it matters to me to set the record straight.

  1. Um, I think you need a spoiler alert at the top of this post. I am so so so happy for Shawn Johnson, but I didn't want to know until tonight! What am I going to do between 8 p.m. and 12 a.m. now?!

  2. Sorry Rachel, I'll alert the public next time. But, you still have to watch Shawn Johnson totally beat that smug Nastia Liukin.
But now you can watch it with a calm heart.
If you think about it, I've really done you a favor by ruining all the suspense.
    You're welcome.

  3. It's okay, Rachel. I'm stupid, too. I totally read before I was thinking about it.

I'm very glad though. I'm done with Nastia Lukin or as I like to call her "Nasty Lugey". Why? Because I'm seven years old.

  4. Actually James, I didn't put up the spoiler alert until after I ruined it for Rachel She had nothing to indicate that I was planning on wreaking all her fun.
So, as far as being stupid goes, I'm afraid you're all alone there.

  5. It all worked out a-okay for me. Even though I knew what was going to happen I got still just as nervous because what if Shawn fell off the beam during the delayed broadcast even though she made it the first time?

What is up with Nastia?! Quit giving your competitors the smile that says "Nice try but I'm going to wipe the floor with your routine and put another medal around my neck!"
