Free Screenings

So, I have been able to attend a few free screenings in the last few months. It's kinda awesome because if the movie sucks, who cares? It was free.
A while back, I saw The Rocker with Rainn Wilson. I was pleasantly surprised. I've learned if you go with zero expectations, you can't really be disappointed. Well, I laughed. More than once. I think they could have shaved about 30 minutes off the film, but otherwise I enjoyed myself and I got a free t-shirt (I love a free t-shirt) that says, "I only drum naked." Awesome.
More recently, I saw The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (part deux). I mean, of course it was ridiculous. The only good thing about the movie was that the chick from The Gilmore Girls had cute clothes.
On Wednesday, I wasted a couple hours of my life at Nights in Rodanthe. The dude who wrote The Notebook also wrote this book and from what I've heard, The Notebook wasn't a half bad film. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for this cinematic catastrophe. The acting was bad, the dialogue was painful, and the story was laaaaaaame. The only good thing about it was that it took place in the Outer Banks, NC, so it was visually pleasing.
So, yeah, one out of three is not the best odds, but if you want to go see free movies then go to and see if they have it in your area.
You're welcome.

  1. You should write to Nicholas Sparks and demand he somehow repay you for the hours you wasted watching that suckfest. No, I haven't seen Nights in Rodanthe.
    I don't have to.
I have a similar beef with Peter Jackson for King Kong. The day I meet him I'm going to demand my eight dollars back (we saw it in Michagan).
