New York, in color

On Thursday, Shiloh left Pete stationed in front of the tv with a remote control and a current issue of TV Guide*, and she and I ran off to the Black and White Gallery in Chelsea to see the work of our favorite new artist, Jared Lindsay Clark, of cheese boom box fame.

His pieces were amazing, and the show, as a whole, totally worth walking to 28th street between 11th and 12th ave. If you're in the New York area, it's worth it.

to wit

*obviously this story isn't quite true. When's the last time you saw a current issue of TV Guide?

  1. I totally know Jared Clark from Provo. He's a FANTASTIC artist and when he had a cleaning-of-his-Provo-studio sale I almost bought one of his paintings...I still regret not going back for it but it was rent money.

I spent one really fun summer dating one of his roommates and going to shows and feeling all together uncool compared to all of the great energy and creativity seething from the group. The cheese boom box name drop triggered something, but I instantly recognized him when I saw his middle name.

Tell him hello from me. Also, we're in America right now and it's a really great place. We're wishing we could stop over in NYC on our way back home.

  2. That's so funny that you know him. I really love his work, and him, as well.

I'm so happy that you got to be in the good old USA for a while, but, of course, I'm bummed we missed you (by thousands of miles). Next time.
