That's what I brought back with me from California.
Oh, and a box of Sees candy.
I got all tawny and brown. I went on long runs and swam laps. I washed cars and drove to Arizona to see rattlesnakes and the majestic saguaro cactus (and man, was it ever).
I hung out with my parents and my brother and sisters.
I love seeing my sisters. I love seeing that we bought the exact same pair of shoes thousands of miles apart. I love seeing our inherent sameness; no matter the lives we live, we still love the same candy, we still make our beds the same ways, we are still sisters. (I just realized that this last sentence, when I spoke of "the lives we live", makes it sound like one of us has made a series of really bad decisions. this is not the case. though, if it was, you know which sister it would be...)
It was a perfect time, an extended summer, after what was a fairly unsatisfying summer to begin with (too much rain, as I think I may have mentioned).
But, I'm back, and ready for Fall in Brooklyn, which is no trial at all.
