The Majestic Saguaro Cactus

Seriously, these things are everywhere.

Annie took my dad and me on a hike.
We left early, but it was still pretty hot.

My dad was really concerned we'd run out of water.
Like, really, really concerned.

I think in his mind's eye he imaged a pretty dire,
mid-desert circumstance,
complete with crawling and gasping for water.
But, in reality,we were never so far
we couldn't see the car or the state park bathrooms.

There they are (the majestic saguaro cactus).

Majestic, right?

A shadow.
Kind of like that cactus is all, "what? wha'd I do?"

I may or may not have kept saying the phrase,
"the majestic saguaro cactus".
(this was weeks ago, how am I supposed to remember?)
But, Annie, as you can see here,
deals with them like she does with me;
she sees them, acknowledges them,
and then kind of just moves on with her life.

But, seriously, they are majestic.

  1. I don't know about all that majestic stuff. i'm glad you came. hope you had fun. i wish it could have been longer.

  2. let me ask you this: did you see any roadrunners or ACME anvils lying around?

  3. Silvia, trust me, they were majestic.

Annie, no. Not one. It was baffling.

  4. I wish you and your whole family could come hiking around here to see some majestic rock formations. Then I could hear your dad panic about the water/bathroom situation and inwardly chuckle (and maybe outwardly)
