This Is Where I Rhapsodize About My Shoes

I'm serious. This post is about my running shoes, the Saucony Progrid Trigon Ride.

I just bought my third pair yesterday, and my run this morning was like running on a cloud. A soft, slightly too narrow cloud. I did 6.5 miles and I have some pretty blisters to show for it.

(can you see how the first two pairs are wider in the toe box than the third? yeah, the third will get there)

I tend to be a little theatrical in general, but retiring a pair of running shoes is always a little emotional for me. I think of all the good times we've had, the miles we've logged together. The snow and the summer rain (see how dramatic this is already). These year-old shoes have been with me for over a thousand miles, 2 5ks, a 10k, and a half-marathon.

Goodbye old friends.

  1. I'm in the market for some new running shoes . . . these are pretty good, huh?

  2. And this is where I get all nerdy about running shoes:
Yeah, they're good for me, because they have a wider toe box and support for my (princess-like) high arches, but, depending on your foot, they may not be best for you. If you're looking for a really good fitting shoe, go to a running store, and ask them for help.
