I have a complicated relationship with East Coast spring...to say the least.
Growing up in Southern California, when every spring day was perfectly sunny with that brilliant blue sky you see in movies about Southern California, I would wish for interesting weather. It happened so rarely, so, when it did, things got exciting. We were kept in at recess (seriously), parents picked you up from school (instead of making you walk the entire half mile home), there were traffic accidents, the news talked about "Storm Watch, 1999", or whatever. Things were just more interesting.
And then I moved to New York, and now all I have is "interesting" spring weather. Take today, for example. I was all set for a warm, sunny, spring day. I even had on my to-do list, "work in the garden", which, as we all know, is a warm, sunny activity. But, instead of a wrm, sny, sprg day, I got overcast and slightly chilly. Again.
Don't get me wrong, I like the portent of a good spring storm as much as the next person, but, enough is enough.
All I can say, weather, is that we better not have a repeat of last June (rain, rain, rain).
If we do, let's just say that things are going to get really uncomfortable between us.
*this photo was taken on a warm, sunny, spring day. doesn't it look pleasant?
