10 Gallon Hat and the 3rd Day of Summer

3rd day of summer.

Accomplished: breakfast (corn chex), run, discovering the origin of the phrase 10 Gallon Hat (note: this hat could not, at any point, actually hold 10 gallons of water).

To do: Everything else.

I have neglected the garden in a really shameful way this summer. It's not completely my fault, there was work being done that put off planting, and by the time it was finished I had kind of lost the fire. It's not too late, though, to re-vamp my plans. A conclusion I came to last night when I was picking these roses (which smell amazing and almost citrusy and were planted 100 years ago in my backyard) and mint, which say what you will about it being a weed, is one of my very favorites, if for no other reason than its pure tenacity. A quality I admire in plants and people.
