Day 5

I would place this one about 2007. Roughly. This is the MoMA, one of our favorite places in the city. When we first moved here and people would come to visit, we had a Friday greatest hits tour we'd take them on: the MoMA, which is free on Friday nights and just as rowdy as can be; then a walk over to the ineffable Lucky Burger on 9th Ave; then a walk downtown to Upright Citizen's Brigade Theatre for a show.

We are undoubtedly in the middle of one such tour here.

James and I have fun in New York. We moved here five years ago with no children, no apartment, and plenty of plans. I'm no scientist, but anyone could tell you that that is a formula for fun. Our time here has allowed us to do most everything we wanted. New York has heard James read his work, and I've stomped across its stages. We've both been published (he more than me), we've both seen rejection, grad school for both, Yankees games, Mets games, Cyclones games. Coney Island hot dogs and a billion great museums.

James is a good person to be in New York with. He's got a good sense of direction, which helped a lot at first, and is still useful in parts of Brooklyn. He's up for anything, and if he's had lunch, is almost always in a good mood. I love New York, and I love us in New York.

Look at us; don't you?

  1. We have done a lot. Good job us. I love this picture. It's one of my favorites. I was trying hard to make you laugh. Because that's one of my favorite things.

  2. Your posts are making me smile. I love it!
