In Summer, the Song Sings Itself

There's no getting around it, summer is drawing to a close. I don't grieve (not yet anyway, give me until February), because New York is kindest in the transition from summer to fall.

Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability. -Sam Keen

The summer night is like a perfection of thought. -Wallace Stevens

Summer afternoon - summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language. -Henry James

I still have a few days of summer left in my heart. Swimming, tacos, another batch of pesto from homegrown basil, a Labor Day picnic, mexican corn on a stick, and sitting in my kitchen listening to the cicadas buzz. I'll ease into fall in the same way New York does, slowly and happily.
