So, my grandma has a recipe for strawberry cake that she would make every year for my mother's birthday. We lived in California, so even though it was only February, she would top the cake with roses from her garden. I thought it was so beautiful.
Since the cake recipe was published in our family cookbook (thanks again, Rachel, I use it all the time), I've been making it pretty much non-stop, and it's always a big hit.
I made it this week for a baby shower I helped to throw. It felt like a flower-topped cake kind of party.
